Job Overview:
As an AI/ML Engineer Intern, you will work alongside our data science and engineering teams to help develop and optimize machine learning models, algorithms, and data-driven solutions. This is a great opportunity to learn how AI is applied in the logistics space while directly contributing to impactful, cutting-edge projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop AI/ML Models:
Assist in building, training, and fine-tuning machine learning models that solve real-world problems in logistics, such as demand forecasting, route optimization, and predictive maintenance. - Data Preprocessing & Cleaning:
Work with large datasets to preprocess and clean data for machine learning applications. This includes handling missing data, outlier detection, and feature engineering. - Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:
Work closely with product managers, engineers, and data scientists to understand business requirements and help build AI/ML solutions that align with the company’s goals. - Model Evaluation & Optimization:
Evaluate the performance of machine learning models using metrics like accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. Assist in tuning hyperparameters and implementing techniques to improve model performance. - Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain clear documentation for AI/ML models, experiments, and results. Present findings and progress to the team, providing actionable insights to guide product decisions. - Research and Innovation:
Stay up to date with the latest AI/ML research and trends, and bring new ideas and techniques to the table that can be applied to improve our platform. - Deploy and Integrate Models:
Assist with integrating machine learning models into the Ascend Cargo Systems platform, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and maintainable in production.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
(Ideal candidates are in their 2nd or 3rd year of study or pursuing a master’s degree.) - Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.).
- Experience with data manipulation and analysis using libraries like Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (preferred), with knowledge of machine learning libraries like TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn) and experience with interpreting and presenting results.
- Strong understanding of statistics and probability as it relates to data analysis and model evaluation.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to break down complex problems and find efficient, data-driven solutions.
- Excellent communication skills to work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment and to present technical findings to non-technical team members.
- Basic experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus, particularly for deploying and scaling AI/ML models.
